Don't buy this blender

I have had this blender for about 8 months (received as a gift) and used it maybe 5-6 times. The blades on the base broke while I was blending a smoothie (no ice). B&D has offered to replace it for a nominal charge (and the plug from the power cord), but they are replacing it with another model that appears to be just as bad. This makes me very leary of any B&D small appliances.

I used this blender for smoothies two times a week for a month. The first day I used it the jar got stuck on the base (there is a nutty locking mechanism) and I thought I would never get it loose. One day the blade assembly just tore itself apart, stripping the blade and rendering this machines useless. Go buy another brand!

Poorly built!

I had a similar one before and was very sturdy! Never gave up to any loadings. But, the new one I got looks very cheap!!! I am afraid, the speed buttons will fly off one day and the motor makes weird sound and its not even a week! Also, I have a prime membership and hoped the product arrival in a 2-3 days, but took almost a week. When contacted Amazon, they asked to check with the shipment agency and when I called the shipping agency, they said, its not in our hands and they hadn't the parcel in the first place at all!!! Amazon sucked on this one.....
