Big disappointment!

At the time I ordered this blender from Amazon, there were no reviews posted, so perhaps this will be the first one. By the time you read this, hopefully Amazon has changed the description of the Omega 2100, but as I'm writing this, the blender is described as having a 64-ounce jar. It actually has a 48-ounce jar. It's also says in the description--"Its commercial-grade single-horsepower motor compensates for light or heavy mixing loads by automatically increasing or decreasing the speed as needed to ensure a constant, consistent speed." Poppycock. It has two speeds, period. There's no automatic compensation for anything.How does it blend? Terrible. I've been using an inexpensive Cuisinart SmartPower Duet Blender for the past 8 years or so to make diet shakes (I also use it as a food processor), and it blends well but has a smallish 40-ounce jar. Recently, I've been getting more into "green smoothies" and wanted a blender with a larger jar that could handle carrots and spinach and such as well as my diet shake powder, ice cubes and frozen fruit. Not wanting to plunk down big bucks for a Blendtec or Vitamix, I thought maybe the Omega 2100 would do the trick. Here's the bad news--First of all, it has a 48-ounce jar. Too small for what I'm looking for.Second, major cavitation problems. It blends anything within 1" of the blades, and everything else in the jar just sits there, even if you toggle the speed from off to on to high. Despite adding more water than I wanted, and stirring with a spatula, it just would not blend ice cubes and frozen strawberries. I had seen a youtube video of this blender that made it look very slick, but on revisiting that video, I realize they used very small ice cubes and few of them at that. After messing around with it for about 5 minutes trying to make a smoothie, I finally poured the whole contents of the Omega jar into my old Cuisinart jar and the Cuisinart had my smoothie ready to drink in about 15 seconds. Really. In case you're wondering, the ice cubes I use are the kind my refrigerator icemaker makes.Third, while I was trying to use it, both the lid and the little cap in the lid tried to vibrate right out of the jar. I had to keep my hand on top of the jar the whole time. So don't plan on doing any unattended blending with this thing.Fourth--about the jar--it won't pour! I mean, mankind has been making pitchers since the ancient Etruscans and Egyptians, and probably before that! As a species, centuries ago we mastered the art of shaping the lip of a pitcher so that it won't spill when poured. Simple, right? But the Omega people chose to ignore all that and instead design a jar that drips large quantities of its contents down the side of the jar every time you try to pour. In this day and age, hard to believe they can't make a lip on the pitcher!By the way, there are some positives. I want to be fair. The handle on the jar is very comfortable. Even filled with 48 ounces of liquid, it was easy to lift and tilt. Also, the metal drive gear at the bottom of the jar looks very sturdy. And the noise level while running wasn't much louder than my Cuisinart. So there you go - this is not simply a "bash and go" review. I said something nice! LOLAnyway, the hunt for a better blender goes on . . . . I returned the Omega 2100 to Amazon the same day I got it.
